I know that so many of you would like to have joined us in July. Videos of
some of the information presented will be made available on CDs later this year.
This year, Dr. Cheryl Maslen and Jessica Kushner from Oregon Health and Science University were guests at our Conference, representing GenTAC. Their display is one of the pictures above. GenTAC is a registry sponsored by the National Institutes of Health. There are many unanswered questions about genetic factors at the root of thoracic aortic conditions such as BAVD and familial TAAD. Please visit the GenTAC website for additional information. On the Enrollment Center page, you will find contact information for Jessica Kushner at Oregon Health and Science University. As we continue our quest for information and answers and share what we learn with others, we create a climate of hope. Is Something We Create Together . . . .

Who is this group of people who gathered together for two days in July? |
Different age groups, different cities and states, different walks of life - what
did they have in common? |
Most had not met each other before, but they shared a common bond. In some way, aortic disease in the chest has touched them. |
Perhaps a climate of hope and an atmosphere of caring cannot be described - but it
can be experienced. |
Sessions covered a variety of topics. |
Physicians, medical students, and other health professionals gathered with
patients and family members. |
They soon found themselves sharing both laughter and tears. |
The search for increased understanding held out hope. |
The weather was ideal, the setting beautiful, but the reason for the gathering was
very important and very serious. |
